Healthy Holidays!

So if you are like me this season is not only about trees, lights, and presents but also about...

colds.
I have found that it is very common for people to have full tummies, empty wallets, and  a runny nose. But one thing I learned from my mom is that the right vitamins will help with getting better and staying better.  I wanted to share a list of 7 vitamins that we take in my house.

1. A Multivitamin:

Most multivitamins on the market contain 10 vitamins and 10 minerals to supplement your regular diet, which is about a full day's worth of the recommended amount, aside from calcium, which is too bulky to pack into a pill. Multivitamins claim to help build your immune system and reduce the risk of some chronic diseases like colon cancer and cardiovascular disease. They do, to some degree, but some recent studies indicate that some of these vitamins aren't all they're made out to be. Need more facts on multivitamins?
In my opinion if you don't want to take anything else at least take this one. It will give you what you need just in case you don't get it in your diet.

2. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective nutrients, experts say. It may not be the cure for the common cold (though it's thought to help prevent more serious complications). But the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling. This is a no brainer to me. Something that helps not only with your immune system, but it helps your joints AND it helps your skin! It's a 3 for 1!

3. Super B-Complex
Maintaining your energy level can help you feel your best.  Nature Made Super B-Complex is a combination of essential B vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, B-6, folic acid, biotin and pantothenic acid) that work together to help produce energy. Need more facts about super B-complex? B vitamins are interdependent upon each other.
Now for my family we noticed a huge difference in our energy levels! I warn you that this pill is kinda stinky though.

4. Vitamin E
The majority of vitamin E's benefits stem from its antioxidant qualities. That means it combines with oxygen and destroys free radicals. It protects polyunsaturated fats and other oxygen-sensitive compounds such as vitamin A from being destroyed by damaging oxidation reactions. Need more facts on vitamin E?
This lovely pill helps a lot with your heart and lungs. We all know that when there is an arctic chill out that breathing is a hard thing to do.
5. Vitamin D
Vitamins like C and E continue to be the darlings of many supplement lovers. But those vitamin superstars are being forced to share their throne with the long neglected vitamin D, which is finally getting the attention it may have always deserved. No doubt, you're probably familiar with the role of vitamin D in promoting healthy bones, l argely by promoting the absorption of calcium. Need more facts on vitamin D?
Now for me I have a prescription for D because I have a deficiency so I take 50,000 I.U.a week. It helps with your energy too!
6. Fish Oil
Findings show omega-3 fish oil may help to:Lower blood pressure,Reduce triglycerides,Slow the development of plaque in the arteries, Reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm,Reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke,Lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease. 7. Biotin
Biotin plays a key role in the body. It supports the health of the skin, nerves, digestive tract, metabolism, and cells. Biotin may also help to treat some types of nerve pathology, such as the peripheral neuropathy that can result from kidney failure or diabetes. Need more facts on biotin?
I LOVE biotin! It helps my hair and nails and if you know me I need it!

Those are all the vitamins that we take every morning. If you feel that you want to try any of these vitamins talk to your doctor first! I am not a medical person at all!
