Healthy Holidays!

So if you are like me this season is not only about trees, lights, and presents but also about...

colds.
I have found that it is very common for people to have full tummies, empty wallets, and  a runny nose. But one thing I learned from my mom is that the right vitamins will help with getting better and staying better.  I wanted to share a list of 7 vitamins that we take in my house.

1. A Multivitamin:

Most multivitamins on the market contain 10 vitamins and 10 minerals to supplement your regular diet, which is about a full day's worth of the recommended amount, aside from calcium, which is too bulky to pack into a pill. Multivitamins claim to help build your immune system and reduce the risk of some chronic diseases like colon cancer and cardiovascular disease. They do, to some degree, but some recent studies indicate that some of these vitamins aren't all they're made out to be. Need more facts on multivitamins?
In my opinion if you don't want to take anything else at least take this one. It will give you what you need just in case you don't get it in your diet.

2. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective nutrients, experts say. It may not be the cure for the common cold (though it's thought to help prevent more serious complications). But the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling. Need more facts on vitamin C?
This is a no brainer to me. Something that helps not only with your immune system, but it helps your joints AND it helps your skin! It's a 3 for 1!

3. Super B-Complex
Maintaining your energy level can help you feel your best.  Nature Made Super B-Complex is a combination of essential B vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, B-6, folic acid, biotin and pantothenic acid) that work together to help produce energy. Need more facts about super B-complex? B vitamins are interdependent upon each other.
Now for my family we noticed a huge difference in our energy levels! I warn you that this pill is kinda stinky though.

4. Vitamin E
The majority of vitamin E's benefits stem from its antioxidant qualities. That means it combines with oxygen and destroys free radicals. It protects polyunsaturated fats and other oxygen-sensitive compounds such as vitamin A from being destroyed by damaging oxidation reactions. Need more facts on vitamin E?
This lovely pill helps a lot with your heart and lungs. We all know that when there is an arctic chill out that breathing is a hard thing to do.
5. Vitamin D
Vitamins like C and E continue to be the darlings of many supplement lovers. But those vitamin superstars are being forced to share their throne with the long neglected vitamin D, which is finally getting the attention it may have always deserved. No doubt, you're probably familiar with the role of vitamin D in promoting healthy bones, l argely by promoting the absorption of calcium. Need more facts on vitamin D?
Now for me I have a prescription for D because I have a deficiency so I take 50,000 I.U.a week. It helps with your energy too!
6. Fish Oil
Findings show omega-3 fish oil may help to:Lower blood pressure,Reduce triglycerides,Slow the development of plaque in the arteries, Reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm,Reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke,Lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease. Need more facts on fish oil?
Like vitamin E it's super good for your heart and joints!
7. Biotin
Biotin plays a key role in the body. It supports the health of the skin, nerves, digestive tract, metabolism, and cells. Biotin may also help to treat some types of nerve pathology, such as the peripheral neuropathy that can result from kidney failure or diabetes. Need more facts on biotin?
I LOVE biotin! It helps my hair and nails and if you know me I need it!

Those are all the vitamins that we take every morning. If you feel that you want to try any of these vitamins talk to your doctor first! I am not a medical person at all!

Movies Movies Movies

The last two weeks I've seen two big movies that came out recently. Now first I want to remind people that I am not a movie reviewer but I wanted to put out my opinion because I can. First Mitch and I went with his cousin Mike to go see Ender's Game and last night we went on a date night to go see Thor: The Dark World.
Both were really good. One was a surprise and the other was on obvious get right into it kind of movie.

I'll start with Ender's Game

At first I didn't really want to see it but I decided to go last minute, and I am sure glad I did. The acting was good but what I liked was the moral questions it brought to mind. Now I don't want to rant about moral justification this minute but lets just say it makes one think about some things. Mitch says he thought it was a deep movie. The kills that were taught to these kids were interesting. But overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Now we come to Thor: The Dark World

I love any Marvel movies! I grew up with two older brothers that have a collection of both Marvel and DC comic books. Every time we go and see one of these movies I have to look up what is what on the Marvel wiki and It just gets me going forever. Now the movie had me nervous the whole time. I was actually really scared for Thor. The acting in this movie was great in my opinion. Mitch just says that it was awesome! in my opinion its a 5 out of 5 stars!

Well that's it. there are two movies I recommend for you to go see. Don't wait till it comes out on DVD, both these films deserve a big movie screen to themselves!

Enjoy!

So Easy Your Husband Can Do It

That's right another easy recipe for you guys today!
I made this on Monday and I was super happy that I didn't actually have to cook.

Delicious Crockpot barbecue chicken
Let me just tell you it is so good! I like mine saucy but you don't have to have it that way. Also I like that sweet and spicy flavor of pineapple and barbecue sauce. Here it is:

3-4 frozen chicken breasts
1 small can of pineapple tidbits
1 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce (I recommend Famous Dave's Rich and Saucy)

That's all for that here are the steps:

Place pineapple bits on the bottom
Place frozen chicken breasts on top of the pineapple
cover chicken breasts with barbecue sauce
cook on low for 6-8 hours until the chicken shreds with a wooden spoon
you can add more barbecue sauce if you want to

That is all for the cooking.
Might I suggest that you use potato buns and really good coleslaw. I like my coleslaw on top of my sandwich.
An easy recipe that no one can mess up!

Enjoy!

Yumm Yumm in my Tum Tum

Can I just tell you how much I love cooking right now! I'm trying new things, making up my own and reusing old recipes all the time now! here is the one I'm trying tonight, it's from The America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook and it's their Banana bread recipe .

I am so excited! Now I know that there are SO many out banana bread recipes out there but tell me honestly who doesn't love trying a twist on things? I made their regular kind but you can try their variations also.

Here it is:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3 very ripe bananas, mashed
3/4 stick butter, melted
2 large eggs, beaten
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional, I didn't use them)
I added a tsp of cinnamon

and here are the steps:
1. adjust an oven rack to the lower-middle position and heat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a loaf pan with oil spray.
2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, ans salt in a large bowl. Whisk  the mashed bananas, melted butter, eggs, yogurt, and vanilla in a separate bowl. Gently fold the banana mixture into the flour mixture with a rubber spatula until just combined. Fold in nuts (if using). Batter will be thick and chunky.
3. Scrape the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean (about 55 minutes )
4. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before unmolding onto a wire rack to cool for 1 hour.

It comes out so moist! Enjoy!

You know you wanna try!

I wanted to give you guys one of my husbands favorite recipes that I make.
White Chicken Chili!

Looks good right!

Now I know there are a lot of recipes for chili mix but I'm in college and broke so I just but the $.89 McCormick White Chicken Chili mix. If you  have your own mix you can still use that!

This is a crock pot recipe so that makes it that much better for moms, students and even HUSBANDS!
here it is:

3 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
half an onion chopped
4 cans of Great Northern Beans (14 oz)
1 can of sweet corn drained (14 oz)
1 can of chopped tomatoes (16 oz)
1 cup of carrots ( I use matchstick carrots)
1 bag of McCormick White Chicken Chili mix
1 tsp of red chili flakes (I like it Hot)

now here are the "really hard steps"

Put everything in the crock pot.
cook for 6-7 hours on low
serve

Wow! That easy!
You can serve it with rice, rolls or my favorite tortillas.

Enjoy!

Movie night!

So I'm here with my love Mitch and our cousin Mike and we are about to see Enders game!

I find that what little family we have here it's important for us to spend this time with them.  Mike and Mitch are close so it's nice to have family that's like friends.

Well I will give you my review later tonight!

Old and New

So I wanted to start off by letting you guys know that I am jamming out on my old Ipod back from Jr. High!
Displaying photo.JPG
Isn't it beautiful!

We have it plugged in while we paint my bathroom. Mitch wanted it to be for my birthday but we got swamped so its getting done this week. Here is a sneak peak:
Displaying photo.JPG

Anyways lets get to the fun stuff. I wanted to share with you my Daily Cleaning Schedule that I have started this week. It has worked out pretty well here it is:

daily cleaning schedule | ateaspoonofhappiness.com

Its only Wednesday but my house is actually staying clean! I altered it only a little for this week. I only have one bed to make at the moment so that's pretty easy. As far as the bathroom cleaning I only do the upstairs bathroom right now because of the renovations in the downstairs one.

De-cluttering is a hard one for me because we still don't have furniture for all of our stuff like books and such.  I like doing one load of laundry rather than doing all the laundry in one day and not getting it done at all.

As far as the kitchen goes, Mitch and I decided when we were engaged that he would do the dishes and I would do the other house cleaning. The dishes need to be done before I wipe down the counters. My kitchen will be pretty soon. The days that there is extra things to do are still fairly easy.

I love this cleaning schedule. Lets hope I can make these chores a habit.

Please let me know if there is anything that you want me to try or post about. send me a message, or tweet!
Bye All!

I'm Back....!!!

I know it has been awhile, and I know you probably thought I was never coming back but I am! I didn't want to make excuses and just say that I am just lazy but I'm not, I go to school full time, work part time, have a house to take care of and also a husband to feed. I'm a little busy but I started to organize my time a bit better and now I have the time needed to do my posts.
So here's whats been going on:
*school is almost over! I have about a month left till the semester is over
*my parents just came up for a visit this weekend and not much else has happened!

One thing is going to change for sure with this blog though
I need to streamline a little a focus on just a couple of things, This blog won't have a lot to do with my day to day life anymore. I want more followers and subscribers so I'm going to take some suggestions from those who do read my blog. What do you want to know more about? What are you interested in? Please let me know so I can make it better!

I wanted to do a quick shout out to my mom-in-law and her new blog:
http://dealsandmeals.blogspot.com/

She is doing awesome! its a great blog for recipe's, coupons and other good stuff!

Well that's it for now. Leave me a comment with what you wanna hear about. Its can be anything from my recipe's, my opinions on products, or anything else you can think of!

Creative Motivating Talent

Well here is the story:
I started my blog yesterday and I was going to talk about role models and something else but I think I git to distracted. Also I just completely lost all of my creative thinking. I felt a little under pressure because Mitch was looking over my shoulder. So that's why it's late. I'll try not to let it happen again. I also figured out like just now that when I listen to a certain Pandora station my creative juices get going more.
That make me think of other things that spark creativity. For some people its nature, others find creativity in their showers. Some people need to go on trips, and some just use their dreams. I like music. And its not relaxing music. This is the current song that is playing:

That's where I get my creativity.
Let me know where you get yours.
(At this point in my blogging Mitch got home from work)
I had a really interesting comment on my Facebook from my last post. It was from someone I really look up to and she said to make most of my talents that I have been blessed with. That got me thinking about those "talents". I did have a great talent for swimming, until I got injured. I still love swimming don't get me wrong but its just not the same. So now what? I can't even tell if I'm good at this blogging thing. How do you find new talents? Do you just try and fail? I need a free talent. I can't afford to get a swim pass or buy paint canvases. Whats a free talent?
This week I have been really good about my fitness goal. I ran on Monday but than the air quality got really bad in Utah due to all the fires that we are surrounded by. So running outside is out of the question until the air quality get better. But I found like 5 apps on my phone that helps me do an at home circuit work out and a yoga work out. Yes I did skip one day but I am not going to kill myself just starting out.
Here is my closing song of the blog:

Honesty

This might be longer than I expected it to be but I have a lot going on in this head of mine.
There is a show that I watch on Hulu called The Carrie Diaries. Its about Carrie Bradshaw when she was younger. If you don't know who Carrie is here she is:

That's right Sex in the City.

Anyways It got me thinking of me when I was younger. The one thing that I said I hated, that I felt was following me all the time, I never really knew what it was in the first place. I'm talking about drama. I never had any real drama, and when I think about it I had just started to experience life. There is always a question in my head, "Would I have done anything different?"
I need to put out a disclaimer first:
I love my life now. I love my husband with all my heart. I am happy where I am now.
Now saying that I wonder what would have happened if the events in my life were different. Like would if I never stopped swimming? Maybe I would be finally done with college. Maybe I wouldn't be as big as I am now. Or what if I went to NAU instead of GCU , again I would have been teaching by now.
The big question is what can I do now to really live?
I don't want to be the wife that's clipping coupons and waiting for here husband to get home at 9:30 pm just to want to go to bed. I'm only 22, not 85.
I want to go out with friends dancing, I want to stay out till 3 am having fun. I would like to have spontaneous meetings with the man of my dreams (Mitch) I want to see the city lights from a distance. I want to act my age. I don't have kids why can't I act like I'm 22?
Another thing I want to wear things that are daring. Not so much skanky, I still want to dress modest but I want to make a statement. I don't, I dress like I am a soccer mom, and again I repeat I am not a mom yet !

Here Is The Plan...

So I have a feeling that those of you that read this are really confused to what this blog is all about. Don't worry I am too. So I sat down yesterday after I posted and made a schedule. So here it is:

Monday: There will be a short blog that just talks about anything. It will be short, sometimes very short but every Monday it will be there!

Wednesday: Will be the main blog of the week. There will be different subjects every time. This one will vary in length.

Friday: This will be a weird one. I plan on doing a shout out blog. if you have a Youtube channel that you want to get out there or a blog or whatever I will check it out and if it good ill post about it. Just send me the link by Thursday at midnight every week and I will post!

Saturday: If I get questions sent to me then I will answer them. They can be questions that you want an opinion on, things that you just want to know about, or if you just want a question answered. Because this one might have some researched involved so send me your questions by Monday at midnight every week!

Sunday: This is tentative. I haven't been able to decide if I want to do this one. Let me know if you would like to see it or not. Maybe if I get more followers then I will.

Speaking of followers I need more! So here is ways you can follow and c;hat with me:
Twitter: @FoyJennfoy

Instagram: @jenfoyy

and this blog. Just leave your comments!

Also I noticed that a lot of people that are reading this are in Germany. I found that interesting. So let me know where you are from I wanna know!

Achieve Independence

Its Independence Day!
Just wanted to do a quick post so you know what is up.

I love these guys. I know, I don't play video games, but I do watch these guys like they are a regular TV show to watch. I blame Mitch. But they don't have the cleanest language. You were Warned!

But I'm not posting to give them a viewer boost, not at all.
I'm posting because I have found myself being the one to find out how Mitch can get achievements in his XBox360 games. Its fun to watch him. I also told him he can't get any new games till he has gotten all the achievements on the ones he has. Yes that means he plays lots a video games, but he does it in his spare time. I honestly love watching him play. I always liked watching video games being played. I would always watch my brothers play. Its weird but a fun bonding time for us.

Speaking of Mitch he has a new Blog. (I'm a great example for him).
Its more of an opinion blog than mine but still take a gander.

And now its time for a:
HAPPY FORTH OF JULY!!!!!

Its a great time for BBQ's, Friends, Family and Fireworks.
But just remember to have a great time AND be safe.
Don't drink and drive. Be careful when lighting fireworks. And watch your kids around water.

We are going to:Nickel Mania
We had a yard sale in Arizona before we moved to Utah and we still have a lot of coin left so that should be fun.
Ill try to post pictures.
I know its short but hey I did it!

The Roles Have Changed...

I know it's been a while but at least I'm posting! I'm going to play around with the settings that I see when I'm typing my posts, mostly the schedule one. But for now here is whats been going on.

Last week was Art City Days here in Springville. It was fun and super cute. There was a little carnival right down the street (and right next to my work). There were fun events that were going on. I only went to two, the Fireman's breakfast and the parade. I was actually in the parade with my work and that was fun. Now to think of it last Saturday was a lot of fun in general. After the parade I went to the farmers market with my friend Samantha for awhile but we didn't find any produce yet. I still went back with Mitch later and we got some really good honey, fresh tortillas, and some amazing salsa (that lasted only one day). After that we went home for a bit and then went to the reservoir with Samantha and her family. I enjoyed it.

Anywho, your probably wondering what the title of this post means. It means I am the bread winner of our house. Yep, Mitch isn't working right now because he is waiting to start a new job. He got a new job at Macy's in the HR department. I just hope that he has better hours now. I like having him around the house though. He has done so much. Lets see Tuesday he did the dishes and finished the laundry. Yesterday he took out all the ugly in front of our house and in our storage closet. He also redid our living room. Today I'm hoping he will do the bathrooms and fold the laundry, that would be great. Let me make one thing clear though, I'm not just sitting around doing nothing, I actually have been working, like my real job.

Since I mentioned it, I need some advice. Like I said Mitch got rid of the ugly in front of our house and now we need to plant some things in front. Nothing to big but pretty. We already have Spanish Lavender:
I was thinking of things like daisies:
Or some creeping babys breath:
Let me know of any other good Perennials that you guys know of! See you next Post!

Our FHE activity

So going completely against my goal Mitch and I went to get ice cream at Cold Stone! Here is what we got

I got Founders favorite and Mitch got Oreo overload. Don't know how we are going to tie this in with a spiritual thought. We figure it out!

Exciting...not really.

I wasn't sure what to title this post. I'm thinking of just doing the date of when I post rather than an actual title. Please comment on what you think would be best.

I am enjoying life. I felt as though I had to say that. there is so much I am thankful for. I would list it for you but I'm afraid that would take FOREVER! I'm just happy, plain and simple.

Mitch is helping our maintenance man put in our new swamp cooler right now so I decided to take some time to let everyone know my new goals. I know its the middle of the year and I finally have new goals but who cares. So I'm going to just do a list of them and explain what I want to do and why. Lets start shall we?

  1. I think the most obvious one that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD has is to lose weight. I don't want .to look sickly skinny but I do want to be in good shape, who doesn't right? I found out a couple months ago that I have PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome)  which, of you didn't know, is just when your hormones are all out of wack. It makes it hard to lose weight. How do I plan to get fit? I have work out videos at home that I will do, I'll go for walks, I'm on this health challenge with my friend Samantha. I hope that those will help me stay motivated. I might need your help, by that I mean if I don't post anything about this goal in like three weeks say something!
  2. My next goal is kind of bad in the sense that I am not good at it at all! It is to not get distracted when I am doing my chores. I have a feeling that this goal is going to be the toughest one because one I get distracted WAY to easy and two I am such a lazy person (just ask my mom). But I really want my house to look good and I do want to be productive. I need to make a cute chore list for Mitch and myself so we can check what has been done each month. Any ideas?
  3. This one is kind of cheesy but I DON"T CARE! I want to make my husband feel like he is the best thing ever every day. It might be hard too but by far this will be the easiest goal I have.
  4. My last two are going to be combined. I want to say my prayers and read my scriptures every day. I know it is what I should be doing but because I didn't grow up doing it, it's hard. I don't have the habit yet. I will get there and so will Mitch!
So that's it for today. Please comment on anything you want me to post about. I know I said I have A lot on my mind and I do but on a day like today I completely forget EVERYTHING! If you read this a lot and you have a blog too follow me and I will follow you!

New Life

I know I keep restarting my blog over and over again but I feel like this is for real now. By saying that I mean that i actually have stuff to talk about, not that I didn't have anything before. Its different now. I am doing different things, living in a different state, and just have different goals in general.

Last year I was a stay at home wife, going to school and  writing  my blog about cleaning a cooking. I had worked for the City of Mesa part time as a swim coach and lifeguard up until November. Mitch and I had hardly any worries. It all changed in December.

We are still happily married and in the lovely, blissful honeymoon phase even though its been over a year. (I still can't believe it has been a whole year). But we have found  that the dependence we have on one another has grown substantially. We moved to Springville, UT in December last year to a harsh reality that we do not have an easy life like we did in Gilbert. First off we were told that we moved during the worst winter UT has seen for a while. I felt like the snow was never going to end. Next thing we didn't know was going to be so difficult was finding a job. We both have to work because we have more bills then we expected. I felt so bad for my Mitchie when he would come home after an interview and he would have no luck. He did find one though, he now works for Vivint,  a home security company. I found a job shortly after as a teller at a bank. The very last thing we never had problems with before was having time to spend together. During school Mitch would be gone from 7 am until about 12 pm than he would be off to work at 1:45 pm, I wouldn't leave the house for work until 1 pm and then I wouldn't see my amazing husband until 10 pm most nights and by that time i would be so tired we would just go straight to bed and then start all over again the next day.

I feel like we have it figured out now, how to deal with the unexpected things. I will post again! No fear there is so much on my mind that I cannot keep in anymore!
